What option should i use with pmo or MQC constant to encode ascii message to EBCDIC. If the answer is message.characterset what character set should i use. Please advise

The general principle is that the consumer of the message converts from the producers native character set to that needed by the consumer. MQSeries performs automated data conversion (if requested) by looking at the MQMD Format field and applying a conversion based upon the format. I don't think it is your responsibility (at the Java end) to convert output to EBCDIC. The MQ/390 getting program will automatically get EBCDIC character data if the Format is MQFMT_STRING
