Hi all,
Question about MQInput node. In the Advanced tab there is an option to
Convert Encoding and CCSID. Does this have anything to do with the MQGET
option MQGMO_CONVERT?
The Convert options in that tab are not documented, can someone shed some
light on what exactly they do? Do they convert the message payload to the
specified encoding and CCSID? Does the incoming message have to have format
MQSTR?

Hi Duke,
check help for MQInput node( I have WMQI 2.1 CSD02 ):
"...
Check the Convert check box if you want MQSeries to perform data conversion on the message when it is retrieved from the queue.
This causes MQSeries to convert the incoming message to the encoding and coded character set specified in the MQMD that the input node supplies on the MQGET call to retrieve the message from the input queue. This also causes all output messages generated by this message flow to be generated using these values, and to be put to target queues with these Encoding and CodedCharSetID values set in the MQMD.
This property maps to the MQGMO_CONVERT option of the MQGMO of the MQI.
Clear the check box if you do not want the message to be converted by MQSeries.
If you check this box, you can also specify:
Convert Encoding. Enter the number representing the encoding to which you want numeric data in the message body to be converted. Valid values include:
546 for DOS and all Windows systems
273 for all UNIX systems
785 for z/OS systems
If you do not specify a value, the value in the incoming message MQMD is used.
If you specify an invalid value, no conversion is done.
Convert Coded Char Set ID. Enter the number representing the character set identifier to which you want character data in the message body to be converted.
If you do not specify a value, the value in the incoming message MQMD is used.
If you specify an invalid value, no conversion is done.

Hi Bolek,
Thanks for the reply!
Does anyone know if the ENCODING and CCSID are only applied to the message at an MQOutput node? Or is it applied right after the MQInput node. Because I have nodes in the middle of the flow that depend on the message already being a certain encoding and ccsid.

Duke,
The Encoding and CCSID will be applied by MQInput node. For example, if your input message's CCSID is 500 and Encoding is 785 and in your MQInput node you are converting your input message to CCSID - 437 and Encoding - 546, all nodes following MQINput node will refer to 437 and 546 values for CCSID and Encoding.
