I'm trying to follow the "Transactional Support" chapter in the MQS System Administration redbook. One of the step the redbook talked about is defining the database manager in the queue manager's configuration file, qm.ini. I cannot find that config file anywhere in the directory where I had installed MQSeries. Should the mq.ini file been installed when I did the initial QMSeries installation ? If not, how can I get a hold of the that file ?

For a message flow, is there a "Coordinated Transactions" property that can be turned on for it ? I right-clicked on my msg flow and selected Property, but it only came up with a Description screen.

thanks,
Alex

qm.ini file is created after you create the queue manager. This file is held in the root of the directory tree occupied by the newly created queue manager.

Yes. Under assignment tab, right click on your message flow and select properties. You will see "Coordinated Transactions" property there.

Kirani,

I have a qeue manager named MELLONQM, and it's located in the directory c:\Program Files\ibm\MQSeries\Qmgrs\MELLONQM. Should there be an mq.ini file somewhere in the \MELLONQM directory or its subdirectories ? I still can't find it.

Alex,

qm.ini and mqs.ini files are only available on UNIX platform. On Windows platform equivalent data is stored into Windows Registry.

If you are looking for information on setting up 2-phase commit between MQ and Database, you should refer to Chapter 12 of MQSeries System Administration Guide manual. You should use MQSeries Services snap-in on configure your queue manager to act as Transaction coordinator.

Hope this helps.

thanks,

Alex,
MQSeries snap-in (also known as MQSeries Services) is a part of MQSeries Server software. I don't think it can be downloaded seperately. If you have MQSeries Server installed on Windows machine, you can find it in Start->Programs->IBM MQSeries->MQSeries Services.
