Hi all
I try to come up with a list of what to monitor in WMQ env.
MQ 5.3 in distributed aix env, service pack 10
1- monitor status of qmanager
2- monitor qdepth or qdepth grow rate
3-monitor channel status/?
(how feasible is to monitor channel stat?)
pls add more into the list that you think is critical or important to monitor...
any other service or processes related to MQ.
Thnks
PS: I am not looking for any tools. We have BMC MQ monitoring tool and just trying to come up with a list of what to monitor(critical, important attributes) or any other services processes related to MQ. |

Upgrade. Especially if you're using Java.

Remember to tailor this to application schedules and expected load (it might be reasonable for a queue to grow if the reading application is on a batch schedule).

Perfectly feasible
My experience of BMC (which is not that current) is it provides agents and a checklist for MQ out of the box. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Pls add more into the list to monitor....
why channel monitoring is so critical? As far as I understand, if a channel stops or become inactive and then if there is a request against a channel it becomes active again...right? |

Wrong. Only if it's inactive. If it stops it requires manual intervention to restart it. Typically after manual fixing of whatever caused it to stop. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
