Hi, I'm very new to MQ and wondered if there was a way to view MQ logs in Windows Notepad or Textpad? Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you,

Hi,

No. They are in binary format.

If you want to look at the message data then issue a 'MQGET' against the particular queue.

control command dmpmqlog is a utility supplied with the MQ product to dump/display the contents of a log. Refer to the MQ System Administration Guide.

I've never ever ever needed to dump/display the contents of a log.

true, but it only works when the qmgr is down
a lot of interesting information can found using it...
but still not something you would use for daily operations...

I agree. Looking at a log is a rare (if ever) event. Curiosity is a good reason to look at a log and lots of other things.
