Hi, I'm very new to MQ and wondered if there was a way to view MQ logs in Windows Notepad or Textpad? Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you, |

Hi,
No. They are in binary format.
If you want to look at the message data then issue a 'MQGET' against the particular queue.

control command dmpmqlog is a utility supplied with the MQ product to dump/display the contents of a log. Refer to the MQ System Administration Guide. |

I've never ever ever needed to dump/display the contents of a log. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

true, but it only works when the qmgr is down
a lot of interesting information can found using it...
but still not something you would use for daily operations... _________________ Michael

I agree. Looking at a log is a rare (if ever) event. Curiosity is a good reason to look at a log and lots of other things. |
