Hi,

I have a quick question after much investigating in the manuals. Our company is involved in porting an application to z/OS that has been written using MQ on distributed platforms.

As per the MQ Application Programming Guide the syncpoint control default on z/OS is yes; for all other platforms, it is no.

The 3rd party code that we are trying to port has always used the default syncpoint option of the distributed queue manaager, which is now causing problems as now the messages are not being committed because they are being put within syncpoint as per the default on z/OS.

My question is, is there a way of altering the default syscpoint option within a queue manager. I am asking this to satisfy the programmers of the code, as I do not believe that there is a way of doing it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The application should specify their no_syncpoint option in their code explicitly for this reason (rather than rely on the default).

You could code the API crossing exit to override the option for this application if you really can't change the source code. It would not be desirable to change the default for all applications even if it were possible.

Thanks zpat for the swift reply. That is what we got the to code to get it to work, but thought I would ask the question anyway and that is what i thought.

Thanks again.
