I can create and start a Queue Manager, but I cannot end or delete a Queue Manager. I'm performing this as mqm. The trace file yields no apparent clues, and the resolutions I have found on the Internet have not worked. This is on a Suse Linux box with MQ version 6.0.0 Any ideas anyone?

Well there was a problem especially with linux and ending the qmgr @ ver 6.0.0 (if my memory of the post from some time ago is not too deficient...)

Can you upgrade to ver 6.0.2.0 ??

I know I need to upgrade to the latest patch level, but I need to stop the current Queue Manager to successfully install the patch. I'll keep poking around and see what I can find. Thanks

What commands do you type? - I mean exactly, including -i switches etc.
What is the output from these commands on stdout / stderr?

Thanks

Yeah, endmqm -p will probably give me the same results, so I killed all the processes manually, but now I get the same error when I try to bring it back up. I'm going to install the latest fix pack and see where that gets me. Thanks

Something seriously wrong if you get these results. If installing a fix pack improves things I will be surprised.

Please supply output from
Code:
ls -l /opt/mqm/bin
id

Also, do you have correct permissions on /etc/group?

Some more info... when I run a trace it appears that the mqm group is substituted for some other group and hence I don't have admin access. The trace is below. Any ideas? Thanks

I ended up doing an strace on a machine that worked and compared it with the machine that didn't work. What I found was that on the machine that I was having problems with there was an nscd process running. This process is used to cache information like passwd and group information. So I was advised to either move the nscd process further down the boot up process or just stop it all together. I stopped it all together and everything is working fine now. I was a bit worried at first because we use an LDAP server for our id's, groups, and passwd's, but so far there has not been any fall out. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and input. I'm out!
