Can you set the message id of a message when sending the message by
using

Code:

setJMSMessageID()

I tried that but after I sent the message but after that I checked the message Id it was set by system and overriding mine

any clues ?

I just checked out the Using Java manual, and it has the following to say about the setJMSMessageID method:

Quote:

Any value set using this method is ignored when the message is sent, but this method can be used to change the value in a received message.

Based on this, I would say you can't set it. There is also another comment in the section that shows the JMS to MQMD field mapping:

Quote:

Any value that is set into the JMSMessageId field before a send() is overwritten.

thanks for that but then what you think this method is useful for
I thought like the normal or conventional usage you use that to get/browse the messages selectively from a queue.

which makes me ask u and everyone else another question
how do we get browse messages selectively from a queue in JMS ?

I thought its the message selctor thing but how do yo use it ?
