Hello
We are working on a integration project with a client. Client wants to use WS-MQ. Currently we only have HTTP request processing capability on our server(maiframe). For the size of the business running on the maiframe, we could not justify purchasing a MQ licence for z/os right now. WSMQ licence on windows environment is within our budget limits.
One of the proposed architectures is to implement MQ within our network and turn the MQ messages to HTTP requests to server. Once the response is received, it will be placed back on a response queue.
1) To acheive this, does WSMQ come with any inbuilt features without developing any code? i.e. can WSMQ convert the messages and turn them into HTTP requests?
2) Or do we have to buy another product(message broker may be?) to make this work along with WSMQ?
appreciate any inputs.. |

No, i don't think so...

Very good idea...for that matter, even ESB should do, as you only want to work with WebServices...
If you buy message broker, you will have the option to call the existing services on your mainframes directly from Broker(so mainframe need not talk to queues at all, as (1) is not possible), and best of all, move the current services to the integration layer...
in other words, it will be closer to an SOA solution(i think, with my limited knowledge of SOA), as a new SOA layer will be added to your architecture which will be the only one who can interact to the mainframes and thus add to security.
Regards. |

WESB may not be sufficient, as the mainframe HTTP requests may not be in XML. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

In this case, the incoming requests are XML messages. the mainframe applcation is processing XML messages
Does this mean ESB will alone be able to enought to do this transformation from MQ message to HTTP request? |
