When dspmq is issued it blocks and does not display anything, when runmqsc is issued with any of local qmgrs given as argument, it just displays:
5724-B41 (C) Copyright IBM Corp. 1994, 2002. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
Starting MQSC for queue manager QMP.
But on entering any command, it blocks without displaying a result.
At the same time, applications holding connections and opened queues work O.K., new ones block (they do not fail with some mqrc).
/var/mqm/errors and /var/mqm/qmgrs/QMP/errors does not have any usefull information about the cause of this behaviour. Where to look at? |

In fact, there are FDCs showing that some runmqsc processes accepted SIGINT signal and ignored it, but it does not give me any information why did we have to interrupt them in the first place. |

I assume this is MQ V5.3 .... platform, csd? was it running before and stopped, or is this a new install? _________________ -wayne |

Thanks Bruce for your answer, I have started a new thread here.
Here you are Wayne:
Name: WebSphere MQ
Version: 530.7 CSD07
CMVC level: p530-07-L040527
BuildType: IKAP - (Production)
Platform is AIX v 5.2.
It is not a new install, it was working properly until yesterday, when some problematic application was installed. I was surprised by a fact that there was no error logs on attempt to connect with runmqsc to any qmgr on the host, it did not fail with any mqrc, it was just blocked without response to any display command. The system was working properly, even applications connected to the same qmgrs were functional, that is those which are constantly connected holding queues constantly open, triggered applications did not work, I didn't fully investigate mqrc they received on attempt to connect or open queues, if they did any. I think runmqsc behaviour does not seem O.K., as well as the fact that qmgr did not log anything, and it obviously rejected communication with runmqsc. The previously mentioned application must have spent all resources available, and qmgr didn't allow for more. My mistake I wasn't monitor it properly.
How can I tell if number of open queue handles per qmgr, and connection handles per qmgr is about to be greater than maximum allowed. Or is it defined per all qmgrs on the system? I know of MAXHANDLES qmgr attribute but it controls number of open queue handles per process, or is it per thread, documentation mentions per any one task.

Is there any qmgr attribute giving statistic on a number of connection handles and a number of object (queue) handles which I can monitor and compare to some (which?) given limits? |
