Hi,
If anyone can provide any help would be vey grateful. I have been trying for two days to create a default configuration and have been having problem after problem.
I installed WMB toolkit and broker version 6.0 on Windows 2000 and aplpied fix pack 1.
Initially I crated a default confuration using the wizard logged in as db2admin, but was unable to deploy to that using my domain user account. And also the createaclentry command did not seem to work.
all my userid db2admin, local admin, domain userid have mqbrkrs, mqm, administrator and DB2admin.
Iv'e tried using the wizard signed in as various ids and the log gives errors.
Now I am trying to create using the mq command line and presently have an issue where I have a queue manager that I cannot delete. No configmanager because when I run the command I get BIP8134E error ...the Queue Manager could not be altered. This results in a queue manger being created with no config manager and it is in a confused state (mq exlorer says it is stopped, yet if I try to delete it says it is running.) Sorry for the multiple issues, and lack of specifics, but I am just getting very frustrated with this.
Basically, I would appreciate help with
1)deleting the confused queue manger
2)suggestions on the mqsicreateconfigmgr issue where it cannot complete because it cannot alter the queue manager.
Thanks,
greg |

The only user that initially has any permissions to the ConfigMgr Proxy, and thus the ability to create ACL entries, is the config manager service user.
Not even the mqbrkrs GROUP has any ACL entries. It only controls who can start and stop and create or delete brokers.
So you need to log in as the config mgr service user, and then you will have permissions to run mqsicreateaclentry to give some other user full access to the ConfigMgr proxy - and thus the ability to create new ACLS. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

If I understand correctly the documentation, the user that is supplied to the mqsicreateconfigmgr command after the -i option is the service user id. I trie d to run this command with a domain user id that had administrative right and also as a local user id with administrative (and DB2ADMIN, mqm, mqbrkrs), but still I get the message, unable to alter queue manager BIP8134E)
Am I missing something?
Thanks,

Administrative rights don't do it.
It has to be the service user - the first time.
And yes, this is the user named with the -i option.
So if you ran "mqsicreateconfigmgr -i dave -a davesPassword -q CONFIG1", then you *have* to be logged in as dave to run mqsicreateaclentry to grant someone else any permissions. "mqsicreateaclentry <configmgr name> -g mqbrks -x F -p -a" might be a good command to run.
If you're current logged in as an Administrator, you can use "run as" to run the Command Console as "dave", instead of having to log out and back in. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
