Hi guys and girls,
just reading up on some of the new V6 Workload stuff.
I don't really understand what this Most recently used channel stuff is about and how this works.
The manual says
Quote: |
This queue manager attribute specifies the maximum number of outbound cluster channels. The value must be in the range 1 through 999 999 999. The initial default value is 999 999 999 |
So, could please somebody explain to me what on earth this is about and how this works?
Thx
Sebastian |

Consider a situation where you have a small "client/branch" machine that's sending messages to a datacentre which has 100 servers, any of which might do the work.
[All 101 qmgrs in the same cluster.]
You do not want your low-powered box running 100 channels/100 sockets as it sends the work into the datacentre.
So setting the MRUC to 10 will mean that it will only start 10 channels - it doesn't matter which of the 100 machines it goes to, but it will only ever cycle the messages round 10 of them.
The default of 999999999 means that all of the backends will be used, which is equivalent to the V5.3 behaviour.
See "Task 15" in Advanced Workload Balancing Tasks in the clusters book. |

Thanks Mark, the way you explain it, it makes a lot of sense all of the sudden
Just for clarification. It doesn't open more than one channel at a time between 2 queue managers, right? |
