What would be the future of MQ series
Could any one of you let me know wat wud be the future in MQ series as i just started MQ administration prior to that I worked as a sys. admin. for Sun Solaris. I will really appreciate if some one from you will guide how to move forward for MQ.

With the Sun Solaris admin work and now the MQ stuff, it looks like you're on the right track for a Middleware role. Try and have a look at the Application Server aswell. It seems that a lot of places run MQ and Application Server on Unix platform. We've started using the MQ Workflow and Broker systems aswell now although I have a fair bit knowledge to gain before I could say I was competent with them.
It looks like IBM are trying to cross MQSeries with the Application Server more and more. |

I don't know the reasons why you say this. But note, for WAS v6, there was new code added to it, so it could do messaging without MQ. This means you don't need MQ if you are just doing messaging within WAS. If you still need to do messaging from WAS into an existing MQ system, you still need MQ (obviously).  |

I know what you mean, but I was thinking more from the MQSeries side of things. With each new release, they seem to be including more and more Java components. With version 6, they're using Eclipse which looks like they're providing more compatibility with Java application development.
I'm not a developer though but that looks like the direction they're heading? |

I understand a bit better now. However, as far as I am aware, the Eclipse-based approach is being used only for MQ system administration. I think providing Java-based admin tooling is one thing, but "integration" (whatever that means in this context) with WAS is another thing altogether. Indeed one could argue that for WAS v6, MQ is less integrated with WAS, although of course it is still possible to use MQ from WAS v6.
(And for those who prefer command-line tooling rather than GUI - including me - there's still good old runmqsc)  |
