Hi,
I'm running some commands that worked fine on 5.3, but under v6 they don't seem to function correctly (running on Windows XP).
I create a QM using CRTMQM, and it says it created successfully, but when I try to start it using STRMQM it says it doesn't exist. I can't view it in the explorer either.
The directory for the QM is being created under the Qmgrs directory.
Here is console commands:
> crtmqm -c "Queue manager Test" -d SYTEM.DEFAULT.LOCAL.QUEUE -u SYSTEM.DEAD.LETTER.QUEUE test
> WebSphere MQ queue manager created.
>
> strmqm test
> AMQ8118: WebSphere MQ queue manager does not exist.
Any ideas?
TIA, Ian |

You have probably created qmgr TEST, not test. Strings in WMQ are folded to upper case unless enclosed in brackets. _________________ MQSeries.net helps those who help themselves.. |

Does your queue manager show up in the registry? |

dspmq will let you know what case it is in.
Nigel, I don't think it uppercases arguments to a commandline command!? |

Ok, ignore the typo I made when typing my message (it isn't down to the case).
It does appear in the registry. It has only only one node under it "AuthorityData"
Any more ideas? |

Did it appear in dspmq? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

OK. So if it doesn't have a whole lot of subfolders under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\MQSeries\CurrentVersion\Configuration\QueueManager\<Replace this with whatever your QMName is>
Then I would be led to believe that it hasn't created it properly.
The output from crtmqm should look just about like this:
Code: |
C:\Documents and Settings\user>crtmqm a
WebSphere MQ queue manager created.
Creating or replacing default objects for a.
Default objects statistics : 43 created. 0 replaced. 0 failed.
Completing setup.
Setup completed. |
Have you tried to create another queue manager (either using MQExplorer or using crtmqm). Are permissions OK (i.e. are you in the mqm group, have you got sufficient permissions to update the registry etc) |

If you can demonstrate this (I think you already have, above) then I recommend a call to IBM Support. It looks, from what you've said, as though something has changed between 5.3 and 6. And IBM Support should be able to help you overcome this.
Before calling Support, check that you have the latest Fix Packs / Refresh Packs etc. |

Ok - trying to create it in the Explorer gives me the following:
****************************************
* Command: crtmqm ffff
****************************************
WebSphere MQ queue manager created.
exitvalue = 536892949
So it seems that it creates the queue manager but then fails to create the objects that should be in it.
Looks like it could be a permission problem - but I've just installed this all on my laptop and have administrator privillages. I'm logging in locally and there is no domain control. |

OK, a workaround could be to change your dcomcnfg to run mq as the interactive user.
DISCLAIMER: This is only a suggestion, not a prooven solution. But as it is only on your laptop it might be worth trying anyway. |

Make sure your user Id is part of the mqm group. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
