Hi we are using the SAP Adapter v 6.0.4 with Message Broker v5 and MQ 5.3 on AIX platform.
We need to send an IDOC to a SAP system using the SAP adapter. We are using the request processing mode of the adapter sending an inbound message to SAP.
We have already sucessfully execute the IDOC in SAP sending a request message to the Adapter. But we have a problem with the response message, after putting the BO message in the request queue of the adapter, the adapter sends de IDOC to SAP and then puts a response message in the ResponseQueue. The problem is that this response message always has a Status=0 and Description in blank in the RFH Header, no matter if the IDOC executed correctly or with errors in SAP.
We can see the result of the IDOC execution using the we02 SAP transaction, either if it executed correctly or with errors. But we need to recieve the result status of the IDOC in the response message, but as i said, the RFH header always has the same values (cero for Status and blank for Description). Is there something else we need to configure in order to obtain this values?
This our my first time using IDOCs with the SAP Adapter, but we have executed RFC functions in SAP and we always have a response message with RFH header with a Status and a Description in case of error within SAP during the execution of the funtion or Bapi, dont know why is not working with IDOCs
Hope anyone can help us, please.
Thanks. _________________ Ing. José Luis Albor GarcÃa

According to a contact in the IBM adapter team:

This is not an adapter problem. ALE is asynchronous, the processing in SAP is separate. You get no return code on processing in SAP, just basic delivery/validation. SAP will process the data according to how that IDoc has been configured in the SAP system
This is a use case for the ABAP extension module (if you're using the WBI Adapter for SAP) with the IDoc handler, which actually returns "fail" if processing fails -- but the performance is much poorer than using ALE, and some ABAP coding will be required. |

Hi, thanks for the reply.
We will try to use the ABAP Extension Module to see if we can get the result from the idoc execution.
Thanks a lot for the info. _________________ Ing. José Luis Albor GarcÃa
