POSITION SUMMARY:
Located in Oakland California:
The WebSphere Portal Developer/Administrator provides primary development and support functions for all WebSphere portal initiatives. Under general supervision, responsible for overall technical function and integrity of corporate web portals. May design and build web portlets, pages and portals using a variety of software applications, techniques, and tools. The web portlets and applications may have HTML, Flash, JavaScript, servlets, JAVA components and many other active components.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installs, supports and administers WebSphere Portal 5.1.x on Windows and IBM iSeries platforms. Builds, debugs, and tests portlets. Works with other teams to integrate WebSphere Portal with other systems such as Active Directory, DB2 databases, etc. Performs imports and exports of portal applications. Develops, maintains and/or automates the portal application release process. Configures Web Content Manager. Performs Java programming, JSP/Servlet development and packaging. Works with the Web Content Designer to develop and deploy custom themes and skins.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and training in systems technologies.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
• Recent experience with developing portal applications for WebSphere Portal 5.1.x
• Ability to leverage out-of-the-box portlets to create a useful portal experience quickly
• Must have a working knowledge of both the pre-installed portlets (such as Web Clipper) and the installable but not pre-installed portlets (those in the installedApps directory which can be leveraged)
• Experience with configuring Web Content Manager
• Experience with building, debugging and testing portlets with Rational Application Developer (RAD) and the Portal Toolkit
• Experience installing and supporting WebSphere Portal5.1.x on Windows and iSeries platforms
• Experience with automating the portal application release process
• Experience integrating Active Directory with WebSphere Application Server
• Experience with DB/2 databases with regard to WebSphere Portal integration
• Ability to create and manage portal page structures including shared pages to allow the locking of certain page areas and delegated administration on other areas of pages
• Experience with portal application export/import process using XMLAccess
• Experience with Bowstreet Portlet Factory
• Experience with building AJAX technologies into WebSphere Portal 5.1 is a big plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Able work at a PC for extended periods.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Able to work standard business hours and flexibility to work off hours and weekends if needed for implementations and/or support.
