Hi Guys,
If the application does not set message PRIORITY value MQPRI_PRIORITY_AS_Q_DEF, than I can set priority attribute at queue level and I can control PRIORITY messages at my will.
My question is:
IF priority property MQPRI_PRIORITY_AS_Q_DEF is NOT set within the application, can I still set priority attribute at queue level and control it?
Thank you for all you help!!! _________________ IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere MQ 5.3 |

This is pretty basic. Oh well.

No, the application DOES have to use that option for your changes to make a diff.

You can change the queue's properties whenever you want, reagrdless of what the app is doing. But the messages will only take on that attribute if the app that is putting to that queue specifies that option on its MQPUT. _________________ Peter Potkay

And althought you don't say why you want to control the priority, you might want to read up on the MSGDLVSQ attribute of queues .... _________________ -wayne |
