As simple as this sounds we are having a discussion about mq client connectios. we have mq53 server on our box and normally create a sndr chl, xmitq and remote q def and simple place the messages on the remote q and they are sent to the other mq server's local queue with the same name as our remote q.

however if wanted to use a client connection, the remote server would need:
it's cmd server running, a svrconn channel and local queue

and our put app would simple connect that remote qmgr and place messages directly on their local queue. there is no need for snd channels or remote q def, right? we must only ensure our mq env, variables are correct.

Is this a correct statement?

thanks.

Its mostly correct....

you do not need a cmd server running....

there are reason for using server bound application versus client bound application, which have been discussed many time here previously, so you need to make sure they don't apply to you (ie, two phase commit as one example of a concern).

great, just as i thought. I do understand the implications of two phase commit etc, but I was not aware that the system did not need the command server running. thank you.

To be precise...you do not need the command server running to use an MQ client connection. You might need it for other reasons
