When you Inquire on the alias you asking about the Alias' attributes which can be different from the base queues attribute. For example the get/put inihibit attributes may be different. _________________ Bob Buxton

Hi,
ThankQ for the reply.
So this means that when i make an MQGET the get will be performed on the local queue only but i dont need to provide the local queue name.
when i do an MQINQ call i need to give the local queue name to get the details. _________________ Regards,

You can do an MQINQ on the attributes defined on the object.
Let me explain:
On a QALIAS you can ask for the base queue.
On a QLOCAL you can ask for the Backout queue.
On a QREMOTE you can ask for XMITQ.
On a QUEUEMANAGER you can ask for TriggerInterval.
etc.
So have a look on the object and see which attributes that are defined.
