WMQ 5.3 csd11 - Windows 2003 EE SP1
I've gotten the QMgr added into the MSCS and it works fine. Fails over fine to the backup node and back.
I'm trying to get the Listener(created after the QMgr was put under MSCS control) to work along with the QMgr. Creating the Listener just like it is normally done and failing over the QMgr doesn't bring the Listener along with it on the new node.
Tried creating a Listener as a Custom Service under the QMgr and tried adding that into MSCS by using the Advanced option on the Parameters tab. No success there either. Should I have created the Listener before I put the QMgr under MSCS control?
Wondering what I'm missing. Need some advise on how to set that up.
Thank you! |

Create the QM using MQExplorer.
Set the QM to Manual, the Listener, Command Server and Channel Init to Auto.
Move the QM to the share drive.
Put the QM under MSCS control.
Failover the QM to the other node one time to "register" it there. _________________ Peter Potkay

Thank you Peter! that did it!
My lesson(s) - Create QMgr(along with Listener) using MQ Explorer before putting the QMgr under MSCS control.
My error(s) from last time - Created QMgr using "crtmqm" from command prompt and Put QMgr under MSCS control before creating Listener
Here's what I did to fix it...:
1) Using Cluster Administrator, take QMgr resource OFFLINE then DELETE it
2) Move back the MQ log files and data files from SHARED to LOCAL using the "hamvmqm" command
3) Once moved to LOCAL, using MQ Explorer, DELETE the QMgr. This removes all traces of that QMgr on node A
4) Remove the registry entries for that QMgr on node B by using "hadltmqm /m qmname"
5) Create QMgr from MQ Explorer along with the Listener.
6) Make QMgr MANUAL and leave the rest(Command server, Channel Initiator, Listener) AUTO.
7) Move QMgr from LOCAL to SHARED
Put QMgr under MSCS control
9) Move Group to register on node B
There might be a better way to recover from my earlier stated situation but the above steps work(just in case someone else runs into a similar problem). |
