Hi All,
We have a situation where the database that was used for our broker (WBIMB V6) has been deleted. Actually oracle has been deinstalled from the machine (as we are switching to sysbase). Is there any way to delete the broker? When we try an mqsideletebroker, it fails with a message (BIP8040W), that the database is not there.
The online help states as follows:-
You cannot delete your broker after deleting your broker database
Scenario: You deleted your broker database, and now you cannot delete your broker, and get error message BIP8040W.
Explanation: The mqsideletebroker command checks for the broker database tables and raises this error because the database is not there.
Solution: You can work around this problem by creating a dummy database with the same name as the database that you deleted. You must also re-create the ODBC connection. Reissue mqsideletebroker, and then delete the dummy database.
I would just like to know, if there are any other solutions to creating a new dummy database (on sybase)?
Thanks

Hi OtisFly,
Why dont you try it.
Create the database in Sybase and create its ODBC connection and then try the delete....and tell us too

Hi Elvis,
We are going to try... just waiting on the DB guys, but was wondering if there were any other alternatives. I'll update later.
Thanks

Creating a dummy DB (on sysbase) worked, so broker has been deleted. |

The other solution would be to delete the registry entry for the broker. Just go to /var/mqsi/registry and completely delete the folder with the same name as that of the broker.
This is equivalent to doing an mqsideletebroker if the broker database has already been deleted OR when mqsicreatebroker command runs into problems due to database issues and if the database was never created.
Thanks.
