That page does not list this restriction.

Cheers,

Yeah you need z/os 6.0 as 5.3 will not accept pcf commands...

Enjoy

EKhalil,

I started a discussion in "General Discussion" about experiences with v6.0, and this thread was referenced. I think one of the things you were asking about is the ability to administer v5.3 queue managers from the v6.0 GUI?

I have added several v5.3 queue managers (Solaris) to my view in the v6.0 MQExplorer (Windows). I chose "direct connection" when I added them. I am able to *see* and administer some v5.3 objects successfully.

From the v6.0 MQExplorer, I can successfully adminster queues on a v5.3 queue manager:
    Create queue
    Put message to queue
    Browse messages
    Clear queue using clearq command
Clear queue using API GET (a great new feature!)
    Delete queue

What I have found (so far) is that I cannot administer channel objects. I cannot create a channel or even start one. I can successfully view the status of channels.

I hope this experience in relevant to one of your questions....

Shirley

Was wondering when 6.0 was announced and we heard there was a new MQExplorer - Will it replace MO71?

Nope! 1 of the reasons is he problem Shirley mentioned. We have MO71 admining all our 5.3 and 6.0 QMs succesfully. MO71 rocks. I can't beleive its free.

And don't forget for all the command line freaks there is MO72 !

Great usage in scripts too.

Enjoy

I am trying to connect to a 5.3 QM on Solaris using a version 6.0.1 MQ Explorer on my Windows XP but get:

AMQ4032 command server not responding.

I have no problem using MQMON over the same SVRCONN channel from the same PC. I.e. the command server is running.

I don't see any errors in any logfile nor any events in Windows.

Here's the definition of the reply queue:

DESCR( ) PROCESS( )
BOQNAME( ) INITQ( )
TRIGDATA( ) QUEUE(SYSTEM.MQEXPLORER.REPLY.MODEL)
CRDATE(2006-01-02) CRTIME(13.18.49)
ALTDATE(2006-01-02) ALTTIME(13.18.49)
GET(ENABLED) PUT(ENABLED)
DEFPRTY(0) DEFPSIST(NO)
MAXDEPTH(0) MAXMSGL(0)
BOTHRESH(0) NOSHARE
DEFSOPT(EXCL) HARDENBO
MSGDLVSQ(PRIORITY) RETINTVL(0)
USAGE(NORMAL) NOTRIGGER
TRIGTYPE(FIRST) TRIGDPTH(1)
TRIGMPRI(0) QDEPTHHI(0)
QDEPTHLO(0) QDPMAXEV(DISABLED)
QDPHIEV(DISABLED) QDPLOEV(DISABLED)
QSVCINT(0) QSVCIEV(NONE)
DISTL(NO) NPMCLASS(NORMAL)
DEFTYPE(TEMPDYN) TYPE(QMODEL)

and here's the definition of the SVRCONN channel:

AMQ8414: Display Channel details.
CHANNEL(SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
TRPTYPE(TCP) DESCR( )
SCYEXIT( ) MAXMSGL(4194304)
SCYDATA( ) HBINT(300)
SSLCIPH( ) SSLCAUTH(REQUIRED)

ALTDATE(2005-10-14) ALTTIME(15.54.26)
SSLPEER()
SENDEXIT( )
RCVEXIT( )
SENDDATA( )
RCVDATA( )

I have tried to connect to two different 5.3 QM's on different Solaris servers with the same negative result.

Does anyone have any idea of what I am missing?

You should have started your own thread for this.

If it's "not working", then there should be more information than just the AMQ4032. Look in the Application Log on your windows machine, and look in the error log on the solaris machine to see if there are more error messages.

Sorry about not starting a new thread. Some forums want's all related stuff in one thread others don't. Next time I'll start a new thread.

Now back to the problem.

That is exactly my problem. I don't get any info either on the server side nor on my PC. Nothing in the application Event log att all. The new MQ Explorer times out after 30 seconds with AMQ4032 and MQMON works.

I just tried again and as you can see nothing logged on the server side:
