In Working Storage....

01 W01-SAMPLE-COMP3-FIELD PIC 9(5) Comp-3.


In Procedure Division...

INITIALIZE W01-SAMPLE-COMP3-FIELD.


But do yourself a favor and don't send this field to MQ, cause there is no guarantee it will get converted properly on the other side. Move it into a plain old PIC X field first and then send that.
