Hi,
we seem to have a very serious problem which we are trying to solve since one week now:
environment:
AIX running QM A (full repository of cluster)
Windows2000 running QM B, member of cluster
windows2000 running QM C, member of cluster
AIX oslevel 4.3.3.0, Windows2000 service pack 2.0, all on MQSeries 5.2.1
problem:
we have problems to start the cluster sender channels on QM B and QM C:
when we try to start the cluster sender channels, nothing happens: channel status does not change, no error log entry, nothing!
when we create a distributed queueing sender/receiver channel pair between QM A and QM B/C, then everything works fine!
we tried to refresh cluster, did not help!
Any hint would be very much appreciated!!!
Update:
We made the following test: Changed the cluster sender and receiver attribute MCATYPE from "thread" (default) to "process". Now, the sender channel starts up without any problems.
Q: does anybody know what does cause this problem? Is MQSeries MCA thread version running ok on Windows2000?

Update No2:
I still have the same problem: cluster channels do not run with MCATYPE being set to "thread".
Why???
Please help me.

I found this in the Intercommunications guide:
Quote: |
Message channel agent type (MCATYPE)
For MQSeries for AIX, AS/400, Windows NT, HP-UX, OS/2, and Sun Solaris, this attribute may be specified as a 'process' or a 'thread'. This parameter is valid for channel types of sender, cluster-sender (on V5.1 of MQSeries for AIX, AS/400, Compaq Tru64 UNIX, HP-UX, OS/2 Warp, Sun Solaris, and Windows NT only), server, requester, or cluster-receiver. On MQSeries for OS/390, it is supported only for channels with a channel type of cluster-receiver. The MCA type is used when the channel is started locally to determine how the channel is run.

It is confusing, but I think it is saying that you cannot set it as 'thread' for cluster-sender except on v5.1. Anyone else interpret that differently? It is odd because the default is thread for cluster-sender. _________________ Deborah Roberts

Hi,
Cluster channels start and stop automatically. No manual intervention needed.
They just need to be defined.
If you want to see the status changing, just keep a message in any Queue manger specifying the name of queue in another queuemanager and if the Reason code is 0, then find the status of cluster sender channel, it will be in running state.

You might have a shared memory problem.
Shutdown your cluster all its Qmgrs and any programs connect to Qmgrs.
Then use the AIX command to remove all shared memory related to mq.
Consult your AIX admin. |
