See, when you state your requirements clearly, there is an existing solution to your problem.

XMS .NET for the IBM Message Service Client is what you are looking for:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24007092

It will parse the RFH2 (JMS message) for you.

Regards,
Roger Lacroix

First-off, you should read the WMQ Application Programming Guide manual.

so "reading" the manual wouldn't have helped me in this case, but perhaps had you really read what i wrote that might have?

thanks to wayne for asking insightful questions!

Reading the manual might have helped you understand that Get with Convert won't strip the RFH2 header...

unfortunately, as i have stated, reading the manual didn't help me to understand that, i read the manual, a number of times, to me it says that MQGMO_CONVERT will convert a message from MQHRF2 to MQSTR, which I incorrectly thought would strip off the header, but I was wrong, that's why I needed to post here .... i want to point out that "read the manual" is not a very productive thing to tell someone, posting nothing would be more helpful, asking insightful questions would be very helpful. i search these forums for answers all the time, the help provided in here is invaluable, i'm extremely grateful for everyone's help.

Reading the manual should also have corrected the notion that it would convert any of the MQHRF2 header. As the manual states the Characteristic Value pairs are allowed in only a very restrictive number of CCSID's. I imagine if a conversion would take place it would only be on the java JMS layer. Any other client might just treat the HRF header as an array of bytes and do nothing with it...

Hummm. Blaming others (me) for your incoherent postings.

Lets see. You posted 3 times, I posted 3 times and Jeff posted 3 times and in total there were 11 posts BEFORE Wayne guessed at what your problem was.

Yes sir, your question was crystal clear, not.

May your next question / posting freeze in hell.

Roger.
