Hi Everyone,
I inherited all our MQ work from someone who left the company. I am using saveqmgr to create the qm files for a migration. On one of my qm's the command fails because the command server isn't running. I checked through all our startup scripts, and out of the 5 qm's we run, this one does not specify to run the strmqcsv command. Everything works fine without it running. My questions are:
1. Why would you not want it running? The IBM documentation is very vague about why you start it.
2. Would it hurt anything if I started it, ran my saveqmgr command, and killed it again?
Thanks everyone! _________________ - Dave Lamont |

It's a security risk if it's running, at least to some ways of thinking.
It does not hurt anything to strmqcsv, saveqmgr, endmqcsv. I wouldn't necessarily "kill" the command server. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

1. You need it to process pcf commands.
2. YOu can/should use endmqcsv rather then killing the process |
