Hi everyone,

I think this is probably an easy one, but it's wrecking my head. I need to clear a message from a queue in MQSeries. This message is causing all valid messages to be backed up, and not get processed. The corrupt message is persistant though. When I do a wrkmqm and then option 18 (work with queues) and then option 12(work with messages), I don't have an option 4 to delete?! Only options 5 and 8 exist. Is there a setting that's hidding from me somewhere that I need to enable?

Hi,

As per design, you can only clear queues, but not delete single messages.

I would recommend you to dwonload MO71 (free), WMQTool (free), MQJExplorer(free), MQVisualEdit (not free), PQEdit (not free), or a comparable tool, to selectively delete/edit messages.

cheers

Sebastian

Paul,

at times MQ behaves like this... To handle this situation have a permanent Solution.. that is create a queue called BackoutQ and whenever ur transaction gets blocked by any message then code ur program to retrieve retrieve it and put that into the backoutQ.. this might reduce ur headache of such rare situation

Regards,
srini
