Hi,

I would like to use an MDB to monitor both depth of queues and when a message is put in the Dead Letter Queue.

I tried to get this to work with a trigger going to an initiation queue, but the trigger never fired with a trigger type of depth and I put 6 messages into the queue. I set up a listener in WebSphere to listen on my inititation queue like I have done with other queues, but I get the feeling that MQ does not know that a process is listening to the initiation queue so it does not fire the trigger.

So, how can I do this using MDB's?

Also I would like to know when something is put in the dead letter queue via MDB. Anybody know how to make this work or am I going about it in the wrong way?

Thanks,
Gary

interesting..

Im looking into something simliar also. I was actually thinking of having an MDB check the queue depth each time onMessage is called to ensure the depth is not over 2000, if it is it will use JavaMail to send an alert..

but I'm still brainstorming...

Any decent monitoring package (free or not) will do that for you....

Do not reinvent the wheel...
