I dont know if I can be helped, but I'm having trouble installing MQ 5.3 on my Win 2k box. The Prepare MQ Wizard always bombs out with the infamous "error validating credentials of ..." I have done the necessary steps required by the installation which are
1. Creating a domain group called "domain mqm"
2. Adding my domain account that I log onto my box with to this "domain mqm" group.

Here is the extract from the amqmjpse.txt. I dont know how I can ask the wizard to use another account when validating credentials..

Code:

Hi,

From the windows quick beginnings
Quote:
The step-by-step instructions below show how to:

Create a domain group (a global or universal group)
Give members of this group the authority to query the group membership of any account
Create one or more user accounts, and add them to the group
Use the accounts to configure each installation of WebSphere MQ
Set the password expiry periods

Make sure the user you are running the wizard as has local administrator privileges.

Use the domain\user way of specifying the username rather then the username@domain way. I used to know why it makes a difference. But I can only remember really vague on my AD training.

Try to configure it with dcomcnfg-> identity tab. I figured out that the wizard is not always really willing to do it.

Hope this helps

Sebastian

Here's what I did to make it work.

1. I uninstalled MQ when logged in as COMPANYDOMAIN\sthomas
2. I logged in to machine locally as sthomas, and reinstalled with the Network Prerequisites set to "Dont Know"
3. Prepare MQ Wizard complained about being unable to verify the credentials of Win2KBox\sthomas local account
4. Quit wizard, opened up "Manage Computer"
5. Added the MUSR_MQADMIN to my Administrator group.
6. Logged out of Win2k box, and logged in as COMPANYDOMAIN\sthomas
7. Restarted Prepare MQ Wizard, and voila, I got a prompt asking for what account MQ should use to validate security credentials. I enter the domain account which belongs to the "domain mqm" domain group, that I set up with the network administrator, and it now works.
