I've never heard of it before now, but looking at what it's supposed to do...

I'd never let my developers code in such a way that they required it.

Ordinarily I would agree but the application in this case is outside my control. I am trying to get up an argument as to why we should not use MQ_ABORT_ON_EXCEPTION as I feel it may impact the integrity of the queue manager.

I was hopign some others may have come across this but I think it is as feared, an unusual request.

I believe it should only be used for debugging. If you have an app that is generatating SISEGVs, for example, you can set this var to generate a core file for determining the cause. It should not be used generally, particularly in production.
