Hi,
I just upgraded my version of MQ from 5.2.1 to 5.3. I had first completely uninstalled 5.2.1 (had run into problems one time when i allowed the setup program to upgrade everything for me when upgrading from 5.1 to 5.2) along with the MA88 (the java component) assuming that the new install of 5.3 which comes with MA88 would automatically be configured for me. After the setup completed I doublechecked the environment variables and sure enough, they were pointing to the new .jar files from the new install.
Now, I also have WMQI 2.1 w/ CSD02 installed as well. After the upgrade to 5.3 however, it is now giving me error messages that it cannot find the qmgr which when i upgraded, had given the same name as the old qmgr. Along with the same qmgr name, both the old and new instance of it is running on port 1414. I checked my config again and noticed that i didn't have a JAVA.CHANNEL and thus created that. Tried it again and still nothing. The exact msg is:
"BIP1352S: MQSeries queue manager XXXX on host system 127.0.0.1 not available. When connecting to the MQSeries queue manager, queue manager XXXX is not up and running and listening for input on host system 127.0.0.1. The Control Center is unable to communicate with the configuration manager".
This of course if running on W2k.
Anybody have any suggestions? I would hate to have to do a reinstall of WMQI as well so I'm trying to see if I'm missing something here.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

MG,
When exactly do you get this error? Is it coming while starting Control Center/Broker Service/Config Mgr Service?
I think you are missing SYSTEM.BROKER.* queue's and on your new broker queue manager. You don't need JAVA.CHANNEL for WMQI 2.1. If the same queue manager is being used by Config mgr then you also need to define server connection by name SYSTEM.BKR.CONFIG
BTW, MQSereis 5.3 is not yet officially certified by IBM to use with wMQI 2.1. _________________ Kiran

Kirani,
You were right on. I added the queues and channels that were missing and my original configuration loaded up on WMQI. The original problem occurred when I loaded up the Control Center...
Not sure I understand this "certified" thing you mentioned. Does that mean the two products are guaranteed to run with each other?
Thanks!

I meant to say that IBM does not support WMQI 2.1 and MQSeries 5.3 combination. If you run into any problem with this configuration, I am sure IBM will first tell you that this combination is not supported!
