If you have started it manually and logoff then it will stop
You need to stop/start the queue manager as a service

It sends a message via the MCA(s) but at a channel level only, non-application

With MQv7.1 you can have multi-installed versions of MQ
Make sure your environment is set correctly as you could be pointed at a primary base version and not installation1, hence you cant find the qu ... |

Have you checked what the Process / PID was related to from the FDC
We used to get this when someone pressed <CTRL-C> while in a runmqsc session

I agree with what is said above, its a risk and diskspace is cheap!
But if you do have to reduce the number of logfiles you can look at the modified date on the files and apply MQ changes
