What about WBIMB5.0, how are message flows stored? Is it a xml format?
I have a message flow which parses .xml file and generates documentation, can we use it with exported WBIMB message flow ?

I did this way
DECLARE msgBlob BLOB;
SET msgBlob = ASBITSTREAM(InputRoot.XML.logDta OPTIONS FolderBitStream);
and insert it into the BLOB field. 'CLOB' shoulb the same way.

I figured it out. My 'longDescription' is being populated as empty string, its not null. So COALSCE is returning me the empty string.
