The platform is Windows and version of QM is 6.

I did the following in z/OS and MQSeries Version 6:
ALTER QMGR EXPRYINT(n)
REFRESH QMGR TYPE(EXPIRY) NAME(generic-object-name)
and I set Expiry(message lifetime) for message in my application. ...
