This was what I tried and it worked. Have DISABLED the chlauth for the qmgr XXX.

I suggest you re-read the Knowledge Centre entry very carefully in regard to authorities required to connect to a queue manager, and the authorities required to interact with objects once connected.

There is a problem with your ancient queue manager, which may be 'fixed' (note the italics and quotes) by you stopping and starting it. You have problems stopping it and both I and my venerable master ...
