If you use a naming convention for your channels that is uses the sending and receiving queue manager in the name of the channel would resolve the issue.

Since it was called MQSeries for OS/390 I'd guess not. As of 5.3 WebsphereMQ is 'for z/OS' and the 5.3 manuals don't mention anything about 64bit.

Did you run an accounting trace ?
If so, on the output of MQ116S (from MP1B) you should get details for the XMIT Q. What does it say for Total Requests and GETs-Valid ?
