I think the $ESQL .... $ format is for use in the Log4j custom node, as opposed to calling Log4j from ESQL as you are doing.
Try:

Your MQFTE agent would spit out the file onto the filesystem where your Broker runs, and then a FileInput Node would pick it up to get it into a flow.
I don't think you have the oppourtunity to use ... |
