I'd have expected the qmgr data files (including qm.ini) and the qmgr lrecovery log to be in directories shared ... |

Why aren't you simply inquiring on the channel status, via the command server? That way you could monitor both the channel state, the XMITQ depth, and whether the channel is actually moving messages. |
