hi evry1,

What does MQ mean when it says it cant find channel status.i have a channel defined and it went into retrying mode.but when i use DISP CHSTATUS it gives AMQ8420.

you can check the post

DIS CHS gives the status of the channel when it is running or when you stop a running channel as status(Stopped). Also for some time it can show the status(Retrying) which can happen when there are network issues.

If the channel does not exist or the channel is never started it gives out AMQ8420 error.

u mean to say we cant find the status of an inactive channel except by looking at the QMGR logs.

there must be some PCF commands to do that , since the monitoring tools give alerts when the channel goes down
