We have installed WMQI on a MSCS cluster of two machines (running Windows 2000). Everything has been working fine until recently, as the number of processed messages increased. We had the following system failure: the cluster was unable to communicate with other queue managers, nor to telnet to other machines. No problem with the server IP adress though. A netstat on the machine showed that all ports were used to communicate with the smtp server we use to send mails via the 'send mail' plug-in.
Whenever a flow in WMQI sends a mail, it opens a port which is not closed later on (status: close_wait). When enough mails have been sent, all the ports are unavailable, the machine becomes unreachable. The documentation of the mail plug-in tells nothing on that subject. We use the plug-in itself in the way specified by the documentation.
Has anybody experienced the same type of problems? This is a quite serious matter for us, since the cluster is quite unstable because of this. Every time the ports are 'eaten up', we need to initiate a fail over manually (once every day!), which is not a very satisfactory solution.
Thanks in advance... _________________ Pierre Duriez
