I've inherited an MQ environment with little knowledge on IBM MQ. I'm seeing really slow transfers. I'm not sure what to look at, what commands to issue... If I transfer a file outside of MQ using something like scp , I get transfers 10x or more faster ... trying to find out if there is a problem or if its overhead. Any help would be appreciated. |

MQ doesn't inherently copy files; what are you using to achieve this? The MQ FTE addition? IIB? Native code?
Are you transferring with scp between the same 2 servers using the same route through the network? Are you sure MQ isn't doglegging through a cluster or similar, or being exiled to a slower link?
What OS? What version of MQ? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

using this command to send a file...
fteCreateTransfer -sa a1 -sm qm1 -da a2 -dm qm2 -jn BandwidthTest -de overwrite -dd /tmp /tmp/1gb.test
I've transferred a file using scp from/to source agent server to qm server
and
from/to destination agent to qm server
speeds are around 10x faster...
I've been working with the network team to look into it, haven't gotten anywhere yet...
redhat 7.5

The version of MQ & FTE you're using is a) out of support and b) not supported on that version of RedHat.
As a first move, upgrade to the latest (or at least a supported version) and see if the problem persists. It's not impossible MQ is doing something the OS is having trouble supporting.
As a worst case scenario, you'll be back in a position where you can get help from IBM . _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I'm working on getting it upgraded or at least to the point we can get support...
just talked to network , what they see is that packets are nearly empty , 80-100 bytes vs the full 1500 bytes...
do you know if there are application settings at the qm or agent that would do this?
Thanks for you help ... |

It would be the agent if it's anywhere and nothing springs to my mind, though I've not used FTE a lot (I'm a member of the "messages not files" chapter within MQ, I apologize for any flame wars that break out in your thread )
Someone with more experience with FTE than me will be along in a minute.
Also and to save time, can we all just assume @mqjeff has posted his "halting file" speech?
