Hi all,
Just wondering given the variety of platforms already supported by MQ, are there any whispers on the grapevine about a Mac OS X port? I would think it shouldn't be too difficult, given that it already runs on a variety of Unix beasts.
Regards,

For what it's worth, there is an MQSeries client for Apple Mac OS available from a 3rd party, Willow Technology (www.willowtech.com).
Note that this is a client only, and it's only version 2. Having said that, we've used Willow's v2 HP MPE client for a few years now and we've had no problems with it. |

I had seen that floating around. Unfortunately we're a v5 shop these days. I wonder whether there are plans to update/port it to OS X? Or if IBM would let them port the server to X?
I guess the Mac isn't even on the radar of most corporations, and small business are usually much better served by less expensive messaging solutions (often pure java ones which already work well on X). The ol' chicken and egg thing.
Anyway, I'm just rambling now.
Regards,
Andrew |

My experience with Willow is that if there are enough people interested, they'll just write the thing for you. They wrote the HP MPE client because there were 4 or 5 companies asking for it - we all shared the development cost (which was less than you'd expect). They're an IBM partner so I doubt they'd have problems getting IBM to let them write it.
I'd suggest just dropping them a line and registering your interest. You've got nothing to lose.... |
