Hi,
I'm completely confused with the user id shown from MQ Explorer -> "Application Connections"
1. One qmgr is used by application-ABC
2. application-ABC is setup/deployed onto 2 different AIX boxes, for different environment purposes
3. both applications subscribed to the same topic(just one qmgr here) from different AIX boxes
4. One dedicated JVM is created for application-ABC(same configuration on 2 boxes), both JVMs(from different boxes) started with "root"
5. There is NO userid/password configuration for "Topic Connection factories" or "Topics" under JMS, using default.
Strangely, when check "Application Connections" from MQ Explorer(Right click Qmgr), user id shows "mqm" while the other shows "root", even though all JVMs are started with root.
Can anubody explain why?
Thanks

MCAUSER.
Also, don't ever, at all, ever, run a business application as either root or mqm.
You might as well hand copies of your car and house keys out to everyone in the company. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

Applications don't 'use' qmgr. Apps MQCONNect to a qmgr. Client-bindings apps connect via a SVRCONN channel; and as my worthy colleague notes, a blank MCAUSER channel attribute will take on the identity of the entity that STARTed the channel - a listener, for example, running as mqm. _________________ I like deadlines.
