I am trying to send message from sender (Windows box) to receiver (Windows box) following the tutorial given in the help of MQ Series.
The status of channel in sender is: retrying.
The status of channel in receiver is: inactive.
When I ping the channel in sender: Its showing "AMQ4080 Remote channel not known. There is no definition of this channel on the remote system".
Please help!! I need to fix this asap.
Do I need to enable remotely administer a queue manager for this? |

I've used MQ Explorer. I didnt write in command prompt.
For sender channel:
Name field : QM_ORANGE.QM_APPLE
Connection name field : IP address of the receiving machine
Transmission queue field : QM_APPLE.
Xmit protocol: TCP
Right-click QM_ORANGE.QM_APPLE.
From the pop-up menu, clicked Start.
For receiver channel:
Name field:QM_ORANGE.QM_APPLE
channel type: receiver
overall channel status: inactive
Xmit protocol: TCP/IP
How to check if the listener is running on receiver?
There are 3 error logs. AMQERR01 says about copyright licensing as the trial version was expired and thenafter I changed the System date to run it. Rest two are empty.
Please help!! |

It means I question the morality, if not the legality, of changing a system date so a time-limited trial version will still operate.
There may not be a technical problem with the version, but I suspect you have license issues. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

And here's a fish: "There is no definition of this channel on the remote system" - channel names must be exactly the same at each end. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Are you mentioning the port number as well with the ip address?

Is this the last in error log list? When did you get this error, at the same time when you tried to start the channel?
And as exerk said, cross check the channel name if they are exactly same (case sensitive).
Go for a licensed version of MQ. _________________ Regards

This has no direct bearing on his problem - he's getting to the queue manager. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

There is no proof of that yet in this post. Could be something as simple as connectivity between the 2 Windows servers is not what it needs to be. _________________ Peter Potkay

Beg to differ...post 1: "AMQ4080 Remote channel not known. There is no definition of this channel on the remote system".
I'd expect a different error message if he wasn't hitting the right CONNAME at least...Edit: But I'd be happy to concede he may not be hitting the right CONNAME. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

But, he did post the psuedo definitions of the channels and the names are the same.
If the IP address is correct but his intended QM is listening on port 1415 and there is some other QM on port 1414, he could be getting that message if everything is configured correctly other than the missing port # in his SNDR channel def. _________________ Peter Potkay
