Hi
I'm setting up client connection to remote Queue manager by MO71:
After providing:
1. Channel Name: ABC.DEFAULT.SVRCONN (created as Server-connection type)
2. Connection Name: SYSTEM.DEF.CLNTCONN
I keep on getting below error message:
12:11:26 Error connecting via client to 'ABC.QM' RC(2538) Host Not Available, where 'ABC.QM' is the Q manager name.
Any idea why?
Thanks in advance !

Haven't used MO71 in a while but shouldn't connection name be like:
somehost.or.ip.address(<port>)
? |

And which version of MQ? Don't forget Channel Authentication Records may be in the mix... _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

To connect to local queue manager with MO71, simply specify Q manager name will do.
To connect to remote queue manager, channel name and connection name must be provided.

A connection name of SYSTEM.DEF.CLNTCONN is wrong. The connection name should be the IP address (or whatever) of the host you are trying to connect to.
Cheers,
Paul. _________________ Paul Clarke

Thanks Paul.
I tried both ip address/server name as "connection name", still got error message:
10:24:02 Error connecting via client to 'ABC.QM' RC(2059) QMgr not available.
And I'm sure QMgr ABC.QM is up and running as I can connect it through MQ explorer.
BTW, is there any log files from MQ71 to drill down the details?
Thanks

Also, what port is your queue manager listening on, that you are trying to connect to?
And what port are you specifying in your connection parameter? |

I don't think it's log file of MO71 you need but rather MQ log files. Take a look for error messages in the MQ error logs at bot the client and Queue Manager side.
Cheers,

It's not particularly obvious - but the connection name field means this format
hostname(port)
or
Ipaddress(port) _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |

Hi guys,
The issue solved now with hostname(port) specified as connection name.
Thanks so much Jedi Knight for the wonderful suggestion.
Thanks everyone for the interesting and help provided, have a good day !

I responded 23 minutes after you posted your question and suggested what zpat said. I feel slightly shunned : . Just kidding - glad you got it working |
