Dear All,
I have two installation of MQ(7.5.0.1) on my windows machine.
Installation1 is my primary installation when ever i try to create Queue Manager in installation2(by running crtmqm from installation2 installed path).
Its creating the QM and associating this QM to Installation2.
but The QM directory is creating under installation1(Installation1/Websphere MQ/Qmgrs).
Then i changed primary installation to Installation2 by running
setmqinst -i -n Installation2
117 of 117 tasks have been completed successfuly.
'Installation1' (D:\IBM\WebSphere MQ) set as the Primary Installation. You must
restart the operating system to complete the update.
Still when i creates QM its directory is creating under Installation1.
I wanted this QM directory under Installation2 is there any other procedure to do this..
Thanks In Advance. |

You are sorely mistaken if you believe creating under has a path meaning.
All your qmgrs will be created in the same default path (set by the first installation) regardless of the installation they are associated with.

Look at the options to crtmqm. You will see that you can create the data and logs in directories of your choice. (certainly in v7.5 onwards)
You could even 'cheat' and move an existing QMGR to a different location using the hamvmqm utility. This is normally used when making HA/Multi-instance setups but bascially all it does is move the QMGR Data and log directories to directories of your choosing.
But frankly, I think you are worrying about things that really don't need to be worried about unless, there is something you have not told us. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

I am implementing this on personal machine.
I have installed two copies of MQ 7.5.0.1 (i.e one is at C:/IBM/WebSphere MQ and second one is at E:/IBM..).
first one is my primary installation.I have tired to create a new QM on secondary installation by running crtmqm from E:/IBM/WebSphere MQ/bin
Its creating a QM but i am unable to see a directory called Qmgrs under this.
QM is creating under C:/IBM/WebSphere MQ/Qmgrs..
I wanted to this in secondary installation..
and i was changed primary installation to Installation2(setmqinst -i -n Installation2 ) to check this but no luck.. |

Like I said, working as designed.
If you need to find where the qmgr has been created use the
command and it's output.
