Hello,
I'm looking for a way to import my current MQ settings to a new iSeries.
The existing box is at OS400 5.4 and MQ version 6.0.
The new box is at OS400 7.1 and MQ version 7.0.1.
I've had loads of trouble trying to find what I want on the IBM website. So far I can only work out that this might be a very difficult (perhaps impossible) task - I may need to manually key in all the settings - but surely there must be a simple way to import my existing settings?
Any advice much appreciated!

What did you try looking for?

Yes there is. In WMQv6 it was a support pac, in WMQv7 it's builtin. If the IBM site doesn't suit you, a search of this forum will turn up what you need (top right of this page)

Strangely, in the 20+ years of WMQ you're not the first person to wish there was a way to do this. So there is.

And before someone else says it, you coud always recreate the queue manager from the original build scripts which you have stored away someplace safe.....

And by settings, you mean what? Your object definitions? The configuration stanzas in the .ini files? Please be a bit more specific.

Sorry for my ignorance - by Deltas do you mean amendments?
If so then no, everything is to stay the same, same manager and queues, same channels, same authorities.

I do...

...so nothing has changed since the very first objects were populated into the queue manager? No objects have been added or altered since that time?

There have been MQ changes on our live box since the original install, however we set up a new DR box a few months ago and added all MQ objects manually (including any changes that had already happened on the live box) - keeping records as we did so. Since that time nothing has changed.
The records I've kept are therefore the ones of the up-to-date DR installation and are complete.

In saying that, I've always tended to err on the side of keeping too many records rather than not enough. I've probably got records and step by step details of every installation and update I've made in the last five years (if not ten).

Useful once in a while, not so nice for our estates team who are always trying to find new storage space....
