AFAIK, there is no 'trial' clearcase software.
Like a lot of ex-rational products IMHO, they use a totally different approach to licensing. If I recall, you need to have a clearcase license server setup and running plus with valid licensed loaded before you can install ClearCase.
Only then, can you connect your toolkit to the Clearcase server.
There is a 'clearcase lite' which may have fewer requirements but I'm not sure how it integrates with Broker 7.
I tend to duck this question and use SVN instead. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

You need a clearcase *SERVER*, somewhere. |

i have the clear case server installed in the Solaris Machine. In order to provide the credentials the Toolkit> clearcase>Connect to Clear case should give me a window to provide server details. Instead of the connection window i am getting the error |

Okay.
Is the ClearCase server at the correct level to be connected to from the 7.1.1 client?
Does the standalone clearcase client work? |

This looks like either an issue with how to configure the Clearcase runtime client to be visible to the Toolkit or an issue with the Toolkit.
I'd suggest that you open a PMR with IBM through Clearcase first. If it's a Toolkit issue, they can pass it to the right team. It's more likely to be a Clearcase configuration issue, so start there. |

Indeed, there's nothing WMB-specific about the Clearcase plugin; it's just an Eclipse plugin, and will work with any files in your workspace, just like the CVS plugin. |

Hi satya_jammy,
Try this.
open MB toolkit --> open Perspective(Window icon on the top right corner) --> other --> double click on ClearCase --> ok.
In the clearcase menu --> Join Project--> you will need to specify the clearcase server, username and password.

Kamalbabu -
There is no ClearCase perspective included with Message Broker version 7 Toolkit, unless this is installed by the ClearCase client. It does not come with the base Toolkit product.
Any attempt I've made to share a project or etc. in ClearCase (even without a ClearCase server to attach to...) results in an immediate failure as described by satya_jammy.
So either something additional needs to be installed and linked into the Broker Toolkit environment, or the Broker Toolkit is broken at the 7.0 level in this specific area. The Clearcase team is the best first point of contact for discovering this, and a PMR is the best way forward to get to the Clearcase team. |

Recently configured a 6.1 toolkit with Clearcase. Not sure how much has changed in V7. But what worked for me is installing an eclipse plugin for clearcase. That should add a new perspective, Clearcase.
The option of connecting to Clearcase from the Clearcase menu option , I think will only work if you have a thick client installed not with the CCRC you have on your system. |

Hi Satya_Jammy,
As SKN mentioned you need to install the SCMAdapter plugin from your clearcase server.
from your Tool Kit --> help --> Software Updates --> Find and install --> search for new features to install --> next --> New remote site (clearcase server hostname ex hhtp://<clearcaseserver hostname>/ccrc/update) --> ok check mark -- next.
This should install the SCMAdapter plugin then you can go to Perspective and you will find clearcase. |
