I know this might be a trivial question but

How can I get my Tivoli System to consume the messages produced by broker Monitoring events?

I have the Broker all nicely configured in my Tivoli system but one of the key selling points (not made by me...) was the ability to show when a message flow last processed a message. I know that the Monitoring events are there just for this purpose so what do I need to do to get Tivoli to consume them?

Please don't say, 'add the Candle Monitor Node' to my flows. This is not possible without an inordinate amount of pain, ansgt, pulling of hair out as the whole system would need retesting and as the place where this lot is installed is going fully live next week, there is no way that this can be done in the timeframe.

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

These events are designed for WebSphere Business Monitor consumption, which is a business transaction monitoring tool.

It seems your intended use is systems monitoring, which is what the Tivoli Omegamon product is. Systems monitoring and Business monitoring can overlap.

You might try constructing some message flow to transform these event messages into a format that Tivoli can understand.

This is true, and it is probably what the OP needed to know, but it is not the whole truth.

WMB monitoring events were designed to be *compatible with* WebSphere Business Monitor while still being consumable by any application that can subscribe to an MQ topic and parse an XML document. That's quite an important distinction.

This also includes the Broker itself

I suspect if you open a PMR with Tivoli, you'll find that there's an existing RFE to add this function.

I don't believe Omegamon includes it as yet.

We use a Tivoli product called Omnibus with MQ probe (that's probably not the official name for it). The MQ probe of Omnibus has a JMS listener and does listen to topics. There ability to add XSLTs to format the XML message to a format compatible with Tivoli.

That is a good one. Ha-ha.

My question is most certainly not related to an interview. This is for a real system that is due to go fully live next Thursday. If you fly through the new Airport Terminal in Amman, Jordan then your passage will have been made possible due to Message Broker sitting in the background.
Tivoli was sold (by a M.E. IBM Agent) with the promise that it could display when the last message was processed by a message flow.
I guess from the replies that it can't unless I modify every flow to include the Candle Monitor Node. That isn't going to happen.

Please don't take my word as authoritative - at least in this case.
