Hello Friends,
I am installing wmb toolkit on DEVlab(server). The directory where my toolkit file to be installed is in
installables/wmb8_toolkitlinux/wmb8 toolkit linux86/disk1 and used the command ./installToolkit-silent.sh inside disk1 .
The installation was fine without any errors but with a WARNING:
CRIMA5008ED1W WARNING: The packages currently installed at /opt/IBM/WMBT800 have installed translations that are not supported by IBM® WebSphere® Message Broker Toolkit package. English text displays for unsupported translations.
Does this warning affect any of the applications while using the toolkit.
When i use the ./launcher i am getting a display error and one of my colleagues suggested of the use of VNC tool for the verification.
How to check the verification is complete? Is the use of VNC client tool correct to verify the installation or do i have any other method to check whether the installation is successful/not?
Thanks in advance. |

No. It means that when some text is displayed, it will be in English since a language translation does not exist for that specific text field.

VNC won't help you here. What OS are you using on the DEV lab server?
What is the service Id you are using to start WMB with? Never ever use mqm as the service Id. Are you using sudo? If not, why not? Did you take the WMB adminstrators class? _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

There is no Broker here. THis is only Toolkit.
The warning says that translations don't exist for at least some messages that the Toolkit will produce, so they will be output in English instead.
There is no indication that any part of the installation failed.
The verification process for determining if Toolkit installed successfully is to determine that no errors occurred during the install process. And then to launch the Toolkit. |

@mqjeff, I was making an assumption that the OP also installed the WMB runtime on his DEV server. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

Sure, it's possible. But there's no indication on it either way, and there's no request for any assistance with it. |

@mqjeff: I did not get any indication of a failure, launched the silent install and in sometime i just got the warning which is posted.
As i am not able to lauch the toolkit from the server i am been suggested to use the VNC which supports the GUI on the server. |

Sudo as whom? Or are you sudo'ing the install command itself? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Apart from the warning message.

Why verify? Why not just launch the Toolkit? What led you to think you needed verification?

What do the logs say when you try to launch the Toolkit? Is it the same message? Is VNC just a "try it and see" suggestion or is there some reasoning at work? What on your system should be supporting the GUI? If you're trying to launch it without VNC you must have thought something would be working it?
What's the native language setting of the server? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Have you setup an X11 server for launching the toolkit, and does the toolkit have proper authorizations to access said X11 server?
Say you launch it through sudo, you might need to build a shell around it...
like:
Note that the launch.sh process only needs to be defined once and then allowed sudo...
Code: |
# allow all to use the X11 proxy
xhost +
# define the X11 target/proxy server
echo 'export DISPLAY=localhost:0,0' > launch.sh
# define the toolkit launch command
echo '${toolkit launch command}" > launch.sh
# change permissions of launch.sh set appropriately and uncomment
# chmod ug+rwx launch.sh
# change ownership set appropriately and uncomment
# chown user:group launch.sh
# launch as a batch process using sudo...
sudo -b ./launch.sh
